Prince Celestio de Medinilla

Prince Celestio is the son of King Theodor de Medinilla IV of the Floracian Royal Family, and his late husband Captain Alonso Dimaguiba. He is a talented young mage, personally trained by several of Floracio's Archmages, and proficient in Celestial magic of all but one Domain, an impressive feat for one of his age.

Unbeknownst to all but the Royal Family and Council, Celestio was actually born from the impact when the Flourishing Half of the First Queen's Heart fell to the Earth. Bearing Half of her Heart, and half of her power, he has been raised with the understanding that it is his Divine Duty to eventually ascend as the First Queen's successor, as the new God of the Pulse. He has spent his life placing this Duty above all else, even his own personhood.

Celestio is currently on a journey to find the other Half of the First Queen's Heart, alongside a handful of unlikely allies.

I. Basic Information

[Placeholder. Might have to design this as a table? Put it in the sidebar? I don't know.]

II. Personality

Dutiful | Inexpressive | Perfectionistic

From a very young age, Celestio has been instilled with a deep sense of Duty, both as a member of the Royal Family, and as the inheritor of the First Queen's power. He believes that his highest purpose is to serve "his people," but in practice, his loyalty is to the institutions that define his world— the Crown, the Church, and the long-standing traditions he was raised to uphold. Raised by the King of Floracio and one of the Church's Archmages, his upbringing has deeply embedded him within these organized structures, yet kept him detached from the very people he believes he's meant to serve. Celestio has a tendency to deny the parts of him which he has been taught are distractions from his Duty— his emotions, his preferences, his desires. To him, anything that makes him human draws him further from his Divine Duty.

This self-denial is a large part of why he is so inexpressive. Celestio does not see himself as an individual, but as a symbol— like the Gods, he must shed his identity to embody an ideal, to serve a purpose. He maintains a meticulously crafted image, which extends from his elegant, immaculate presentation, to his distant, aloof demeanor. He struggles with open communication and is uncomfortable expressing himself outside of one specific context— when he is correcting others, or demanding better of them. Because of this, he often comes off as overly-critical, inflexible, and pedantic, which makes him rather difficult to get along with.

Celestio is a perfectionist, and he is as demanding with himself as he is with others. He does not believe in 'good enough' or half-measures— everything must be done right, and to the best of one's abilities. He is relentless in his pursuit of his perceived Duty, always going above and beyond what is expected of him. Nowhere is this more evident than in his study of magic. Celestio devotes himself to the study of Celestial magic with near-obsessive diligence, under the belief that his skill in it is a reflection of his piety, Divinity, and ultimate worthiness. To him, perfection is not a goal, but an obligation.

III. Appearance

Celestio cuts a striking, etheral figure, standing taller-than-average at 177 cm (5'9"), with a slender, willowy build. His hair, a pale blonde, darker near the roots, cascades pin-straight down to his waist, meticulously maintained. During the story, he most often has it in a high ponytail, but it's not uncommon to see him with a half-ponytail of even more elaborate styles, adorned with ribbons, pins, or other accessories. His eyes are a pale blue, inexpressive but observant. His skin is pale, smooth, and unblemished by scars, with a slight warm undertone.

Celestio carries himself with poise and elegance, each movement careful and controlled, like the movements of a dancer. He stands with ramrod-straight posture, and seems disinclined to lean or tilt his head down. Combined with his height, this gives him the general impression of one constantly looking down his nose at others. His habitual expression is often blank and emotionless, ocassionally interrupted by the slightest furrowing of his brow.

Celestio's voice is deep and clear. His manner of speech is formal, stilted, and somewhat archaic, with some describing him as "talking like a book." His inexpressiveness extends to his speech, coming in an even, but somewhat dull, monotone.

IV. Skills & Abilities

Magical Abilities

  • The Flourishing Half. Inside Celestio's body lies the Flourishing Half of the First Queen's Heart, giving him inherent access to magic which controls vitality, regeneration, and growth— despite the last Heartfall cutting off access to the First Queen's magic from most people. Celestio is most comfortable using his Half's magic to affect living flesh, using it to heal injuries, boost an individual's physical capabilities, or even to shape and alter flesh to some extent. Tapping into the Flourishing Half's magic, however, uses up his own blood, and can lead to weakness, dizziness, and even a loss of consciousness.
  • The Seeker's Domain. The Star-Seeker is Celestio's primary Patron, with whom he has abundance of both favor and training. The Seeker's Domain gives him access to magic which alters light and perception. He often uses this in the form of visual glamors, projections, and illusions, as well as for stealth applications, or for inducing temporary or selective blindness.
  • The Warden's Domain. The Warden-at-the-Gate is Celestio's secondary patron, with whom he also has an abundance of favor and training. The Warden's Domain gives him access to magic which protects, or magic which pierces. Most often Celestio uses this magic to throw up shields, barriers, and wards. He is also proficient enough with the Warden's Domain that he does not need the assistance of firearms to aim and fire magical projectiles at enemies.
  • The Maker's Domain. Although the Maker is not one of Celestio's Patrons, he nevertheless has spent much time studying and gaining her favor. The Maker's Domain gives access to magic which affects the transformation of materials. In practice, Celestio is able to alter the simple physical states of unenchanted non-living matter— heating, cooling, melting, freezing, etc. It also allows him to imbue items with simple magical properties drawn from any Celestial God's Domain.
  • The Traveler's Domain. Much to Celestio's frustration, he has very little favor with the Traveler Returning. Because of this, he cannot access this Domain frequently, nor access higher-level magic of this Domain. Augmenting the Traveler's magic with some of the Seeker's, he can use a limited form of farsight.

Practical Abilities

V. Background & Story

VI. Relationships

  • Valentin. The thief Celestio caught robbing the Palace— who may have inadvertently saved his life. Now traveling alongside him, Valentin has pledged his help in exchange for Celestio’s promise to lift the “curse” that has long afflicted him. To Celestio, he remains an enigma: disarmingly sincere, yet a habitual liar; desperate not to be abandoned, yet terrified of being known too well; incapable of magic, yet brimming with power he refuses to acknowledge. There is something concealed beneath his bad jokes and party tricks— and Celestio is determined to uncover it.
  • Princess Renata. Celestio’s cousin in name, sister in upbringing. They were raised together within the Palace, shaped by the same traditions and expectations— though each bore a different burden. No one understands Celestio like Renata does, and no one can get under his skin quite so effectively. They disagree often, usually about Renata’s recklessness or Celestio’s rigidity, but beneath that friction lies steadfast loyalty. Renata and Celestio are aiding each other in parallel paths towards fulfilling their Duties— Celestio will ascend to Godhood, as Renata will ascend to the Crown.
  • King Theodor. Celestio’s father, and the reigning King of Floracio. Since the death of his husband Captain Alonso, Theodor has carried his grief with him like a shadow— quiet, constant, unshakeable. Celestio deeply admires Theodor, and sees in him the ideal of duty: steady, selfless, and enduring. He was raised to follow that example, to carry his burdens without complaint. His father has sacrificed much for the greater good. Celestio intends to do the same.
  • Captain Alonso. Celestio’s late father, who died twelve years ago in a failed attempt to retrieve the Withering Half. A celebrated soldier and a poet at heart, Alonso was a man who found beauty in simple things— the curve of a leaf, the hush before rain. Celestio remembers strong arms, quiet words, and a warmth now most keenly felt in its absence. Alonso died fulfilling his Duty. Celestio will live to fulfill his own.

VII. Trivia & Miscellany

  • Trivia 1. This is mostly just for little fun facts that don't fit in any of the other sections.
  • Trivia 2. Could be OOC stuff, like voice claims or assignments.
